Description

Lou Gehrig emerged in 1927 as one of the games preeminent sluggers. Gehrig’s 47 home runs were the second most in the Major Leagues in 1927. Babe Ruth had established an unimaginable long-ball standard and, outdoing that, Gehrig was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. Gehrig hit .373 along with the 47 home runs to win the MVP Award as the Yankees swept the Pittsburgh Pirates in the World Series.
Presented here is an Official American League E.S. Barnard baseball that has Lou Gehrigs signature in his customary location the side panel, in black ink. Gehrigs signature was penned directly below the E.S. Barnard President American League stamp. The additional signature on this ball is that of Cedric Durst, whose signature is on the south panel and a clubhouse signature of Babe Ruth on the sweet spot. This comes with a LOAs from JSA (XX11345) and PSA/DNA (AJ02230) for Gehrig’s signature, with each authenticator determining Babe Ruth’s signature a clubhouse version.
