Description

1930’s Jim Bottomley Single Signed Baseball.
Nicknamed “Sunny Jim” for his consistently upbeat disposition, the star first baseman was an indispensable part of the equation that delivered four National League pennants and two World Championship to the fans of the St. Louis Cardinals over a six-season span (1926-31). With an average of 115 runs batted in per season during this torrid stretch, Bottomley proved a fitting counterpart to Yankees first sacker Lou Gehrig, and today his autograph is even more scarce than the Iron Horse’s coveted script. His posthumous Hall of Fame induction, a full fifteen years after his 1959 passing, has further widened the gap between supply and demand, and here we present one of the few singles on planet earth.

Given the Spalding stamp on the south panel, this ball would have been produced in the 1930’s. Bottomley personalized the offered orb: “To my little friend Tommy.” According to PSA’s letter the word “Tommy” has been enhanced along the way. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA.
